University of Ottawa scientists win health research award for medical discoveries

OTTAWA, October 6, 2009 —  Adolfo de Bold and Michel Le May, colleagues and researchers from the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, have both received an inaugural award in health research. This award recognizes their contributions to cardiovascular research. These contributions include the discovery of a hormone that helps monitor and control blood pressure and developing a new way to treat heart attacks

The award was recently created by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and the Canadian Medical Association Journal to recognize discoveries that have had a major impact on the health of people in Canada and around the world.
