Katherine J. Turner

Dr. Katherine Turner is Vice President of Validation Biology at Biogen Idec, Inc. Cambridge, MA. She received a B.Sc. (Honors) in biology from the University of Sussex, Brighton, UK in 1972, followed by an M.S. and Ph.D. in biochemistry from Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, VA, in 1977 and 1980, respectively. She conducted postdoctoral research at the Courtauld Institute of Biochemistry, London University, UK, and the Rosenstiel Basic Medical Science Center, Brandeis University, MA.

Dr. Turner started her career at Genetics Institute, Inc. Cambridge, MA in 1982 as a research staff scientist. She held several positions in Research and Development and was promoted to Vice President of Protein Discovery Research in 1997. Dr. Turner has co-authored numerous publications in the area of interleukins and hematopoietic growth factors.

Dr. Turner joined Biogen, Inc. in 2001 as Vice President of Validation Biology. Her current research is focused on developing novel therapeutics for neuropathic pain, spinal cord injury, cancer, and fibrotic and autoimmune diseases.
